Questions
What is this piece made from?
Every ZEITWORKS piece is made from the original interior of a specific vintage car, or from authorised reproductions of period factory textiles. Each piece is cut and assembled by hand in our studio in Snow Road Station, Ontario.
Is each piece unique?
Heritage pieces are one-of-one — built from the original interior of a single car. When that material is finished, no second piece exists. Signature pieces are made in small batches from authorised reproductions of factory textiles.
Can the piece be repaired or restored?
Yes. We have worked with leather and automotive textiles for nearly twenty years and can advise on care, repair, and restoration. Write to info@zeitworks.ca.
How does shipping and returns work?
Orders are processed within 72 hours and shipped from our Ontario studio. Returns are accepted within 72 hours of receipt, in original condition. Sale items and custom pieces are final sale.
The Car Behind This Bag
1985 · 3.5L M30 inline-six · Dingolfing · E24 chassis · the "Shark
Built on the E24 platform from 1976 to 1989, the 6 Series was BMW's grand-touring coupé — the long-bonneted, wedge-nosed silhouette that earned it the nickname "the Shark." By 1985, the 635 CSi sat near the top of the range with the 3.5-litre M30 inline-six, an engine that has become one of the most rebuildable in modern automotive history.
The 6 Series was the yuppie dream car of the late 1980s — Wall Street, Miami Vice, and every architect's parking spot from Munich to Manhattan. The car appeared in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home parked outside Spock's house. Its Group A racing version, with Schnitzer-prepared engines and BMW Motorsport livery, won the European Touring Car Championship in 1981 with Helmut Kelleners and Umberto Grano at the wheel.
Today the 635 CSi survives as a Sunday classic — long, low, and somehow still timeless. The interior is where the brand was at its peak: pinstripe velour or supple leather, Recaro buckets in higher trim, and the kind of switchgear that aged better than the cars built around it.
